My Grocery Buddy Project

Background & Goal
The challenge was to find a real-world problem and come up with a solution on how to solve this problem. The goal of this project was to develop a smartphone application for users that would allow them to have a better grocery shopping experience in the city.
Problem Statement
There is a need for urbanites to schedule a delivery after shopping at the supermarket because it is a great iconvenience to carry items home.
User pain point hypothesis
Interviews & Competitive Analysis
TARGET AUDIENCE: male/female urbanites between the ages of 25-40. None of them own a car.
5 PARTICIPANTS

KEY FINDINGS:
-
All of them say that grocery shopping is a necessity.
-
All of them prefer to buy produce and perishables in person at the supermarket.
-
Most of them don't want to spend too much time at the grocery store.
-
All of them complain of carrying groceries home because they don’t have a car.
-
All of them go to the grocery store at least once a week.
-
All of them get frustrated when they can't find an item.
Currently, on the market, there are store specific apps (Star Market app, Wegmans app, Whole Foods app, etc...) but not one app that can be used at any supermarket, also, these apps are mostly used for coupons.
There are several apps that already utilize the GPS / sensor technology (Target app) however, location and indoor navigation don’t work properly. The most common user complaint is that there aren’t enough participating stores / locations therefore, making these types of apps useless.
